The Summer Solstice Festival will take place in Lough Gur from June 18th. to June 21st.
The festival will celebrate the longest day of the year and the phenomena that occurs within the Great Grange Stone Circle at sunrise. On the morning groups gather at the banks of the great and ancient monument to wonder at the rising sun as its light floods through the entrance point.
Many people believe that these structures were built to align precisely with the movements of our sun and the seasons. In true Celtic ritual style a number of events will be run to allow us all to celebrate .Whether your interest is in music, song, dance or simply taking part in a table quiz and the fun run all of these elements help us to celebrate and recognize the sacred monuments and sites that surround us.
